Took a few minutes of searching but eventually my brother in law made the find a stride or two in from the gravel edge of the parking lot. {FOUND}

We were visiting our daughter in Vancouver and were driving back to Red Deer when I mentioned that I wanted make a slight detour for this cap. I knew I would be dealing with snow but I didn't think it would be as much as I did. We parked at the barricades about 60m. from the cap, Mrs. Gumby figured I was nuts to think about finding this one. There was a well beaten path that went from parking to the lake. I decided to take a chance and really had to watch my step because you could see where people had fell down through the snow. I made it along the path and luckily it passed about 5m from the cap site. When I got there I tested each step and carefully got off the path (although I did fall through once). I did a couple swipes with my metal detector and got a positive sound. There was a small tree there that I could only see the top and I stabbed my trekking pole through the snow so I knew about how far down the cap was. I started to dig and this was the time that Mrs. Gumby saw that it was safe so she came down the path. She was laughing at me digging through the snow in my shorts and running shoes. She also laughed at how small my shovel was, I took my better one out just before we left for Vancouver. I was persistent though, I dug some and then checked and when I got the positive sound, I kept digging. After a short time I had dug through the almost waist deep snow to hit the ground, cleaned the snow from where I was getting the readings and it revealed the really nice cap. Mrs. Gumby snapped a couple of pics of me then headed back to the car. When I got back she said how impressed she was that I was able to find it. Thanks for a great cap, it was fun to dig this one up and we had a lot of laughs. TFTBC

My wife treated me to a weekend in Yoho NP. On the way home, we made a lunchtime stop here in Herbert Lake. It took a few minutes to find this cap despite it standing out in the grass. It sure blends in well with the fall color. Thanks for the cap.

We were able to park right beside the cap, but it still took some searching in the long grass. Thanks for another cap!
