We felt quite a bit better after reading the find logs for this cap, as it confirmed that we had chosen a good access point. We used a combination of quad trails, bushwhacking, following cutlines, and crossing Baseline Creek (no easy task with the soft moss on a pitchy slope on one side of the creek and a steep sandstone approach on the other).

What a simply cool cap - really in the middle of nowhere - lots of adventure getting to the location. Thanks OFTH for the cap - the picture is on the way!

I started my entry and I was called to supper now I'm not so sure I was first to find, as I came back on after supper I saw that PDOP's now had an entry. I was there around 2:30pm, oh well! no big deal. Now I know he is still around and I better be sharp.

Came at this one from the west after parking off the Emerson Creek Road. For those of you looking at the Google satellite view the more obvious approach would seem to be the Obed Mine access road to the east but both it and the bridge over the Athabasca River are gated and closed.

From my parking spot it was a 2.8 km walk along cutlines to the cap. Crossing Baseline Creek required a 20 metre drop then climb back up to the cap which was exposed and marked by a GP.

Went looking for the Bearing Tree that OFTH mentioned and found a pine with a blaze in the trunk complete with a spike driven into it.

On the trip back I came across an old collapsed log cabin complete with ironing board, iron and hot air popcorn popper. It would seem that life in the bush isn't as rustic as it once was.
