Yay, my newly acquired hook tool works great! It lifted this manhole off with minimal effort. Don’t come looking for this one if you’re afraid of ants, but on the other hand, from what I’ve seen that applies to most manholes most of the time anyway…

I am making good brass cap use of a few days in Calgary. This morning (Sunday) I set out a plan for 6 caps in the urban area of Calgary. Sunday morning is an ideal time for a visitor to tour the downtown. The plan was for 6 caps - with a couple involving some walking as well. I have some super photos of the city as well. Thanks again to ofth & vdD for setting up and maintaining this activity. I am glad you did! This was cap #1 for today.

I was eager to get a few more brass cap finds to count towards a challenge so I took advantage of the nice afternoon to get outside and enjoy an urban geowalk connecting some fine caches and caps.
Over the weekend I read a log about someone sleeping on the bench near this cap I'm sure... same happened to me and I too was able to open the cover and extract what I needed without disturbing the sleeper.....
Now as I write this a couple of hours I later, I hope to God that they really are only sleeping....

Well that was interesting experience. When I arrived at GZ, I discovered a muggle asleep nearby. I considered my options. In the end, I decided to search for the cap anyways and just see what would happen. As it turns out, nothing. He slept through my whole time there. I first discovered the larger access point but used my better judgment before attempting to open that one and then found the real GZ almost right beside it. Ants at GZ again but they scattered quickly so I could get my necessary information for proof.

A busy day for dogs and people, everyone was out for a walk in the sunshine. Iron Phoenix was chased back to the car by a grumpy goose. The cap has a guard goose

Thanks to Outforthehunt for maintaining the Brass Cap cache for everyone to enjoy!
