Couldn't get much easier. The surveyors had cleared trees and put up enough tape that you could see this one from sapce! TFTH # 3 of 4 today and # 30 for the trip.

We ended up needing our headlamps and bugscreens for this cap which is set a ways into the forest. Fortunately we spotted the familiar markers and were soon taking the money shots - TFTH and fun!

Our last stop before the final push for the 60th parrallel and the NWT border. This was another cap which required a jaunt across the railroad tracks and into the trees, and we kept the headlamps off as long as possible because the locals were definitely hungry. The cap was found in short order as our motivation was high...another memorable adventure.

There was a convenient pull-out right at this cap with a sign that said 30th Baseline. Must be the right place. I sprinted across the field and up to the train tracks. A quick run down the tracks brought me to the likely bushwhack point where I quickly spied the cap. I hadn’t noticed the bugs until I stopped to snap my photos. Yikes! Out comes the insect repellant that I used as a weapon. It had no effect on the flies. I only got one small chunk of flesh nicked out of my shin by one of those flies before I was sprinting again to the truck. You sure have to earn your cap finds up here. It’s like being in a Mantracker episode with giant flies hunting you instead. I think I would rather do a 15km strenuous mountain hike than a 100m sprint in the bush up here. A well earned cap. Thanks OFTH!

Luckily this monument seems to be popular with the surveyors and it is well marked and dug out. I will email the pic tomorrow when I can get it out of my phone :)
