This cap is now in the gravel. I used our metal detector to get a hit, then the compass to fine-tune the ready. I excavated the cap, then covered it up again. I left a rectangular rock/concrete marker on the edge of the grass to make locating it easier for the next seeker. I enjoyed continuing along the alley to the west of here, it passes under a bridge.

I know when this one was placed for SAW5 it was in a different spot and no one had any luck finding it. Nice to be able to get another shot at it in a different spot. Managed to find an alley that got me right to the cap -- too close to the cap, in fact. I had parked right on top of the thing. No wonder I couldn't find it at first.

I finally read one of the previous logs that mentioned the grader had covered it back over again so I knew it had to be close to the lane way. I moved the Rondo ahead a few meters and found a likely impression but couldn't uncover any brass. There was a the lid from a can nearby so I used it as an impromptu shovel and managed to uncover the cap from the dirt that continually falls into the hole.

This is my 300th Brass Cap. I was the 11th person to 200 caps and I'll "settle" for being the 14th to 300. It doesn't sound that impressive but when you think about how many people have logged this cache over the years, 14th isn't too bad. It's been a long time to get here, but the march to 400 starts in a few hours.
