There is no fence anymore. There's a mound of earth in the centre of the field. We wondered whether or not the cap was buried. We checked the logs to see if we could find context photos, but when we found that coolcat21 had tried twice and DNF'd both times, we decided it was time to give up on this one.

I gave this one another go as I was on the way through Lloyd to Sask. today. The excavation in the area that was only just started when I first visited is now finished.

But for this visit I had a metal detector with me. After searching for a bit, I got a promising beep from the detector and started digging at that spot but only found a piece of metal the size of a piece of chewing gum. The flavour had gone all out of it, it so I put it back where I found it. :-)

After expanding, contracting, expanding (you get the picture) the search area, and not getting any other indications from the detector at all I decided to call it a day.

Appears to have been some landscaping in the area recently. Remnants of survey lath in the area. A metal detector would be of great help. Oh well, maybe next time. Thanks

I thought I'd stop by this Lloyd cap on my way to visit the folks in SK today. After making my way across the park to ground zero I wasn't able to spot this one at all. Kudos to Bigscreen & Bosslady for finding it because I could see no tell tale hints to offer a clue where it is: no marker posts and no ground depressions. There has been some cat excavating very, very close to the ground zero I had, but that doesn't mean the cap was affected.

And when I thought of returning to the car to fetch my metal detector, which would have been a great help in the search, I remembered it was actually in the hallway closet.. not the car D'oh!

I'll be by again, and next time with the right tools!
