It was getting pretty dark but fortunately I have some prior experience with the area roads. Pulled up to this one 10 or 15 minutes after reentering Canada. I had my passport ready just in case, but although I drove right past a border truck they didn’t seem to care. Maybe that guard has seen his share of monument lunatics, haha. We had crossed the border and headed down the border road for the cap. Passed a border patrol truck sitting on the side of the road. I thought for sure I would get stopped on my way back passed him but he didn't, he just waved. We had no problems at all. Another fun memory. TFTBC!!!! 2013-04-13T20:00:00 Found it Everhollow BCP333 - Coutts N 48° 59.888 W 111° 53.683 I asked The Reluctant Cacher on our way south if we could PLEASE drive the Border Road to BCP333. I read the last few logs to him which was a big mistake. He said no way, he travels to and/or through the USA many times a year on business and cannot do anything to jeopardize his reputation with border security. Rats! On our return trip I brought up BCP333 once more and re-read the logs. It seemed the main problem was when people tried from the Canadian side. We were coming from the USA side so he most reluctantly agreed to give it a try. We found the correct road without any problem and I was extremely excited to pull up across from the obelisk so we could grab the picture and get back out of there. I was barely 3 feet from our vehicle when the border control officers drove up and parked beside us. Having read the previous logs, we both had our black Canadian passports with the shiny gold print in hand. I approached the vehicle and asked if there was any problem if we took a picture of the monument with my Canadian passport and GPS. The two fellows seemed slightly amused and asked where we had come from. We told them we had been in Helena the past 5 days and were headed back to Calgary. They said to proceed and were on their way. What the heck?! Not 10 seconds later a solo border patrol office pulled up next to us and stopped. I approached his window and started to make the same request when my eyes fell upon the humongous gun beside him. I stopped mid-sentence and must have sounded like a complete moron when I uttered, “Ohhhh, nice gun!” <img src="/images/icons/icon_smile_blush.gif" border="0" align="middle" /> He ignored my comment and I proceeded to request permission to take a picture of the obelisk. He said okay and drove off. The picture was taken and we drove back to the border to wait our turn in line half expecting to be pulled aside for further questioning but we breezed right through.
