Those objectives included having some fun and grabbing a few caches for various goals and challenges we have set for ourselves. Wow it's been a long while since we found this cap. Just trying to get caught up again. It's always a pleasure to roam Alberta in search of the Brass. TFT Cap, outforthehunt! 2013-09-04T20:00:00 Found it BVPete BCP387 Wagner N55° 21.482’ W114° 58.968’ A few kilometer division from the main hwy delivered us to the ball diamonds. As with previous cappers I used the hole in the fence (used TiE’s photo) to access the field. There was nobody around so dashed to the plywood cover flipped it off, cleaned up the cap and then replaced the plywood as found. All that took about 1 minute and then I was back through the fence once more on the ball diamond. Now it is off to Canyon Creek.. When I got close to GZ I was confronted with 3 signs... No trespassing, Private property and Beware of dog. Now that seemed uninviting. I looked ahead expecting to see some sort of wealthy home or an illicit grow-op, but all I saw was an empty field. I decided to see if I could find a blissfully ignorant access point to the cap... one that I could say didn't not force me to cross the sign barrier (of course I would have to ignore that I saw them in the first place). I spied several cut-outs on the outfield fence of the ball diamond. They were obviously there to allow ball players to retrieve home run balls that would land in that very same field. Obviously a common practice. There also was no sign on those cutouts telling me not to use them. Well I womdered if I might find a lost ball or two through one of those cut-outs, so I went through to the field. I spotted a sheet of plywood on the grass and when I lifted it up I was surprises to spot a brass cap there. What luck! I didn't see any balls but I did find a cap. The cap was pretty beat up but had some visible digits. I then retreated the way I came and was soon on my way. GPSr: N55 21.481 W114 58.968 Elevation: 582m The ball park was completely quiet as I pulled in and made my way over to the cap. I hesitated when I saw "No Tresspassing" signs, and probably shouldn't have proceeded, but I could see the tantalizing guide post not 15 ft away from me. I tip toed in (which somehow makes trespassing better?) and soon figured out where the actual cap was (see context shot). I quickly took my pics and retreated from this lonely corner of what seems to have become private land. Thanks for the cap.
