We found ourselves just over 100 kms from this one and that is too close to pass up. This was our US third border monument brass cap. Our first one involved a bear encounter along the Waterton Lake Trail. Our second one involved an encounter with the border guards on both sides of the border. This time I came prepared. I left the bear spray in the car, but I did bring my passport to the cap with me... just in case. Teenage TiE joined in which is rare for a cap find. Something about sneaking across the border a couple of feet appealed to him. We enjoyed the scenic drive down to the cap and the pleasure of another cap find. Now to figure out how to get to Chin Lake from here. Thanks for the cap OFTH!

After passing on BCP250 ( Cypress Hills ) due to the snow we continued south to the border. Fortunately we just had a little shimmying under a barbed-wire fence to do for this one. Having done BCP333 ( Coutts ) almost three years ago, I knew that this one would be a treat, and it was. Nice benchmark, thanks!

There was a lot of snow falling the the Cypress Hills so our trip down Highway 41 took longer than expected as I was forced to slow down. All of that snow, combined with the fact that two experienced cappers had DNF'ed BCP250 (Cypress Hills) meant we gave up our hunt for that cap while still 8km away. It was well after 13:00 before we reached the US Border and this survey marker at Wild Horse. I had brought my passport along, specifically in case we ran into "Takin It Easy" issues with border patrols. Turns out we didn't need it as no one questioned us as we slithered under the barbed wire fence to get our pictures at the marker. There's nothing quite like logging a cap while standing in the United States.
