Thanks to a good photo and the right tools, Brendan and Hunthikers quickly had this one unearthed, or rather "unsnowed". TFTC! 2018-01-20T20:00:00 Found it brendan714 BCP449 Eagle Lake View N 51° 43.097 W 115° 27.137 After reaching the summit of Maze Peak, we decided that a trip to the western outlier was in order to find the nearby caches and this brass cap! As we were searching for the nearby cache, we looked over and saw sort of a funny sight: there were 3 ground posts. The first and third posts were easily visible and well above the snow. The middle post was only BARELY visible - with probably less than 30cm showing! We joked that the middle post was probably going to be the one with the cap..... upon zeroing out the GPSr it was indeed! D'oh! But I armed myself with an ice axe and hunthikers grabbed a shovel. JnJ H stood back and provided some good encouragement. After only a couple minutes of chipping ice and shovelling away snow, we hit the ground. Hunthikers reached down and on the first swipe of his glove he uncovered and (FOUND) the cap. Wow, that could have been WAY worse! We took some photos and moved on to find the other nearby lonely geocaches. This was a fun search for a well placed cap! 2018-01-20T20:00:00 Found it hunthikers BCP 449 Eagle Lake View Out on Maze Peak with Brendan714 and jnJH. As Striders Ride has said for this BCP it sits in a shallow bowl at the saddle but there was about 6 inches of the MP showing. Armed with a spoiler pic, Brendan714 marked the spot and with an ice axe and an avalanche shovel we quickly excavated to reveal the cap :) JnJH commented on our craziness, but we decide that crazy was in the eyes of the beholder. (FOUND) 2011-11-13T20:00:00 Found it Red90 BCP449 - Eagle Lake View My son and I were camping in the Bearberry area this weekend. Looking for something to do Saturday, this hike presented itself. Quite a nice hike, very scenic. There is a fair bit of deadfall to contend with, but that can probably be avoided with careful route planning. TFTB!! 2011-10-15T20:00:00 Found it BigR, Little L & the Minis BCP449 It's been awhile since I last found a Brass Cap and I was so enchanted with taking photos that I forgot to check my GPS' coordinates. This was found on my final stretch of 'under 5th to find' Lonely Caches in the Eagle Ridge area. Although I've been to about 15 peaks/ridges this season this is my first Brass Cap...I'm going to have to become more BC aware. TFTH! BigR & MDP
