I arrived at the cap site and the grass appeared to have recently been cut - sweet! The down side - all the grass was laying flat and the ground was pretty wet. Well I started kicking the long cut grass aside with my large sized camouflaged rubber boots and good grief I stepped into a big hole under the grass. Talk about luck! It took a little cleaning, but I had the cap in the bag - thanks OFTH for setting up this challenging little cap! 2012-08-21T20:00:00 Found it Sears Tower BCP587 - Hutch Lake After supper in High Level, we headed north to the NWT and a few caps. I hate to say it, but this was REALLY easy to find. It has been dug up by a surveyor who also placed a stake for us! TFTH # 2 today 2012-07-10T20:00:00 Didn't find it Takin it Easy BCP587 Hutch Lake Posted: N58° 47.087 W117° 23.438 Today we were on our way on a day trip to Hay River NWT, our most northerly leg of our trip. When we got to the car it had a layer of ash on it from the nearby wildfire in La Crete (or so we thought). We headed north on Hwy 35 and as we approached GZ, we noticed the pull-out 200+m to the north. Right when we stopped the car was swarmed by horseflies. This was our first encounter with these evil insects on our trip. I grabbed a jacket and hat making my fully clothed walk in 35C heat while being swarmed by horseflies a quite pleasant one. I walked (i.e. ran) to GZ only to spot tall grass and a small pond. No GP, no reference markers and no depressions. Normally I would make an attempt (i.e. blindly dig), but given this cap was 30cm below ground with no useful reference points and I would have to go back to the truck for the shovel, I wimped out and bailed. I figured I should leave Sleepy_hollow at least one challenge on his trip north. Thanks for posting this one OFTH.
