We got within 115km of the Wabasca cap, but I would be pushing my luck trying to get to that one and back considering we were actually supposed to be headed to Lloydminster on this trip. We had to backtrack to Athabasca and then started heading east. When we approached the turn-off north to Fort McMurray, I gave my wife my best puppy dog eyes and got the OK for a little detour north before heading to Lloydminster. This was our first stop on Hwy 63 north. There was a convenient pull-out right across the road which was great as there are too many trucks on this road for a safe shoulder pull-over. The cap was well marked with 2 laths and a GP and was slightly above ground. Numbers have been sent in. It was a quick find once I made it safely across the road from our parking spot. The access to Crow Lake provided some good parking and from there it was just a matter of timing a safe run across the road.
