My first trip in to the Ya Ha Tinda area. Spectacular. Luckily I had down loaded the coordinates for the nearby cache and after a short search spotted the cap. I'm never applying for a job as a bulldozer operator! 2015-03-14T20:00:00 Found it momzee BCP680 Bighorn Falls N51° 45.503 W115° 32.619 My only other visit to Ya Ha Tinda Ranch was over 20 years ago and was due to TiE missing a turn over the Red Deer River on the Forestry Trunk Road. It was nice to be able to return with time to attend and event, find a new cap and do some hiking. I think we''ll be back much sooner the next time around. TiE submitted the info. Thanks OFTH! 2015-03-14T20:00:00 Found it Strider's Ride BCP680 Bighorn Falls As we arrived in the Ya Ha Tinda Ranch area this cool gray morning, the weather was tempestuous to say the least, and it continued to be blustery on and off throughout the day. The walk up to the cap site was straightforward with the backdrop of mountains and low lying clouds throughout the valley looming over us. After arriving at GZ, it was cool to discover a 1956 vintage, federal cap in very good condition. This elevated cap would be difficult to miss, however while taking a backward step for a photo, I nearly fell into one of the four holes which encircle this cap, so watch your step around this one. We made a loop out of the hike and found a few caps east of here before dropping down to the Flash Mob event at Bighorn Falls. My tracklog showed we'd done 10.8 km with 409m of elevation, so it was indeed a good day out on the trails and another cap with a terrific location. TFTCap ofth 2015-03-14T20:00:00 Found it Sleepy_hollow BCP680 - Bighorn Falls We had the good fortune of this well chosen cap listing appear before the near by Event today, so Strider's Ride and I got a reasonable early start to check out the new location. We parked on the west side of Bighorn Creek and simply followed the old road to the cache site. The cap has quite the history with having been placed in 1956. We also noticed four rectangular shaped holes equidistant from the cap site - perhaps something to do with the original placement? After taking the usual photos, we headed east to complete a loop hike along a pretty good trail that led us back to the Event.
